There is now a real battle within the centre-right over the ius scholae .

Once again, Forza Italia is stirring things up in the majority, having opened up to the proposal supported by the centre-left opposition to grant Italian citizenship to foreigners who have completed a course of studies in our country.

A side that Fratelli d'Italia and Lega first dismissed ("It's not in the program") and then harshly criticized, even going so far as to fear possible, fatal shocks to the Meloni government (later denied).

But, on the subject, the Azzurri do not seem to be willing to return to the ranks without a fight. This is demonstrated by the response to the allies, and in particular to the League, published on the social channels of FI. A response that is actually a video by Silvio Berlusconi – for years the undisputed leader of the center-right – who says he is in favor of the ius scholae .

"We believe - the words of the former prime minister in the video dusted off from the archives - that granting citizenship to someone who is the child of foreigners, who however live in Italy, is even a duty when this person has been a student of a school cycle that allows him to not only speak our language well, but also to know our history and appreciate the cornerstones of our civilization".

At the bottom of the video a note from the Azzurri: «Listen to the words of President Silvio Berlusconi on the ius scholae. He was in favor of granting citizenship to the children of foreigners born in Italy who had completed compulsory schooling, Forza Italia continues to be coherently so».
