The young woman, who is still being identified, found dead in the courtyard of an apartment building on Via Paruta, Milan, may have been the victim of sexual assault.

This is one of the hypotheses being investigated by investigators coordinated by the prosecutor on duty, Antonio Pansa, who is in charge of the homicide case and who will shortly, as soon as the initial report from the Carabinieri arrives, order an autopsy.

The fair-skinned girl, in her thirties, was found in a driveway of the building, near a flowerbed, wearing tracksuit bottoms, her breasts covered by a jacket, and tennis shoes but no socks . These details suggest that the alleged rape may have occurred elsewhere, and that the young woman was then hastily dressed and taken there, taking advantage of the fact that the gates leading to the complex's internal garden are always open.

According to initial investigations, death occurred after 10:00 PM yesterday, but only the autopsy will determine the exact time and the nature of the marks found on her neck. Further investigations are underway to clarify whether she was raped or not. Analysis of images being downloaded from surveillance cameras in the area and from several private individuals may provide some clues.

Investigators are also canvassing shelters in the city and surrounding areas to identify the woman. The building's caretaker raised the alarm this morning, and several neighbors were interviewed by investigators. The neighbors reported not only that they don't know who the woman is, but also that they hadn't seen or heard anything during the night.
