The commission of the Customs and Monopolies Agency met yesterday for the validation of the half million euro Scratch and Win that had been stolen on 2 September from a 69-year-old Neapolitan lady by Gaetano Scutellaro , the tobacconist who had it for her sold (and who later attempted a daring escape).

The commission was chaired by the manager of the Numeric Games and Lotteries Office, Stefano Saracchi, who in recent days went, on behalf of the general management of Adm, to the Latina carabinieri barracks to formally acquire the coupon from the administration, in order to the concessionaire of National Lotteries to be authorized at the start of the procedures for the payment of the prize, as explained by the Monopolies last Wednesday.

Now the payment can be made to the woman, who may soon have the money in her account, perhaps as early as Tuesday.

After being blocked by the police at Fiumicino airport while trying to leave for Tenerife (the accusations are of attempted multiple theft and attempted extortion), Scutellaro said he regretted his gesture and asked the lady for forgiveness.
