Filippo Turetta had an "obsessive desire" to graduate together with Giulia Cecchettin.
"Get it into your head that either we graduate together or life is over for both of us." So he wrote in a WhatsApp message from February 2023 recovered from the girl's cloud .
The text message is now in the records of the investigation against the 22-year-old from Torreglia (Padua) on trial for the premeditated voluntary murder of his ex-girlfriend.
According to what was reconstructed by the carabinieri, Turetta had not resigned himself to the end of the relationship and, according to what was testified by Giulia's friends and family, "he acted as if he was sure of winning her back" .
The boy waived the preliminary hearing before the preliminary hearing judge and agreed to go directly to trial in the Court of Assizes . A decision, taken in agreement with the defender Giovanni Caruso, which «follows a path of personal maturation of the very serious crime committed, and the desire for justice to take its course as quickly as possible and in everyone's interest», has the lawyer reported.
The defense will not even ask for a psychiatric report , unless there are different intentions that emerge from the trial.
The feminicide was committed on 11 November 2023. In his interrogation before prosecutor Andrea Petroni, Turetta told of the evening spent with Giulia Cecchettin in a shopping center in Marghera (Venice), then upon returning her denial of his requests to get back together , the fight in a car park in Fossò (Venice) with beatings, kicks and 75 stabs. Then the escape with Giulia's body in the car, abandoned in a forest near Lake Barcis, in Friuli, until eight days later, in Germany, the student was arrested . Turetta has been detained in the Verona Montorio prison since November 25th.
