A slight fracture to the lamina of the second thoracic vertebra was reportedly found during the new autopsy on the remains of Liliana Resinovich. The "possible ancient fracture to the nose" reported in the first forensic medical report was not found.
The lesion to the vertebra, reports the Piccolo, would be added to the other signs on the body of the 63-year-old, whose body was found on January 5, 2022 in the woods of the former psychiatric hospital in Trieste. The first report, signed by Fulvio Costantinides and Fabio Cavalli, reported that Resinovich's right eyelid was "apparently swollen" and blood traces were noted in the right nostril; furthermore, "the tongue presents an appreciable small hemorrhagic infiltration of the anterior muscle", while on the head "hemorrhagic infiltration is noted at the level of the left temporal muscle and the presence of small hemorrhagic petechiae".
The panel of experts appointed by the Prosecutor's Office to draft the new medical-legal report is working to try to provide an explanation for the injuries.
In the event of a fall - the newspaper reconstructs - the woman's clothes would have been dirty, given the rains of the period, instead they were intact. The tests would also confirm that the woman's death would have occurred on December 14, 2021, the day she disappeared from home.
"A picture that is slowly emerging is becoming more and more objective," Nicodemo Gentile, lawyer for Sergio Resinovich, Liliana's brother, told Il Piccolo, "of a reconstruction of the facts that is absolutely incompatible with a suicide." Gentile hopes "that the Prosecutor's Office, the investigators, with an act of great humility, a sign of strength and not weakness, in light of what is coming together and that will be written down in black and white by the consultants appointed by the Prosecutor's Office itself, will reread the facts in a different way."
