Shipwreck off Lampedusa . Late yesterday evening, Guardia di Finanza patrol boats landed 10 survivors and six bodies from a shipwreck that occurred in several stages.
Off the islet, the patrol boats first rescued a half-sunken dinghy on which there were six men and six women, then they recovered six bodies, all young men.
The survivors, taken to the hotspot after medical checks, reported that they left Sfax, Tunisia, on Sunday night on a rubber dinghy. There were 56 people on board, so 40 are missing . After less than 24 hours of sailing, while they were in international waters, many migrants fell into the water due to rough seas. The rubber dinghy continued sailing and yesterday, now half sunk, was intercepted in the waters off Lampedusa .
The search for the 40 missing people resumed this morning.
Yesterday in Lampedusa a total of five landings were recorded with a total of 213 migrants . At the hotspot there are currently 230 guests.
