A turning point that is sensational in the investigation into the death of Pierangelo Repanati , a 57-year-old journalist and former mayor found lifeless in the garden of his home in Corte Palasio , in the Lodi area.
Not a robbery that ended badly and two slashes in the throat as initially hypothesized , it would be an absurd fatality.
No other person was involved, Repanati would have fallen against a French door causing it to break and thus cut his throat .
An accident therefore: "In the state of the current investigative findings, the discovery of the deceased person is more likely to be connected to an accidental event with the exclusion of the voluntary conduct of third parties ", explained the prosecutor Domenico Chiaro, underlining that however "they are in progress in-depth investigations aimed at reconstructing the dynamics of the event with absolute certainty ".
The wounds in the neck therefore appear to be “related to the fall against a French window which caused the breaking of the same frame”. Broken glass was found in the victim's home.
Repanati was found dying by a neighbor after 10 pm, the screams heard were most likely due to the accident. The 57-year-old would therefore have done everything by himself , because "no signs of a struggle were detected, even if a more in-depth examination by the coroner is underway".
The magistrate on duty also came to the same conclusion.
