Give a new acceleration to the vaccination campaign and start effective screening in schools.
These are the two cornerstones of the plan of the Commissioner for the Coronavirus emergency, Francesco Figliuolo, to stem the spread of the Omicron variant in our country.
The general, in an interview with Corriere, explained that "increasing the number of people vaccinated and who have received the booster will help us consolidate the barrier built up to now".
With the opening of the call to four months "from next January 10", he continues, "it will be possible to satisfy the audience of potential recipients".
Then the details on screening in schools: "Each Region will develop a device - explained Figliuolo - and thanks to the great availability of the Defense Minister, Lorenzo Guerini, we will have the support of military teams and laboratories".
For school staff "the government has allocated 5 million euros - reveals the commissioner - which will be used for the purchase of Ffp2 masks to be distributed to those who carry out school and educational activities in favor of children".
The general also hopes that the latest vaccine approved by EMA, Novavax, can convince even the most skeptical and reluctant to undergo the vaccination. The commissioner explained that "the arrival of" 2.9 million doses "is expected, the first delivery" presumably between January and February ".
"It is a traditional type of vaccine - concludes the commissioner - and I hope it will help convince those who are still hesitant". With it "we will have an extra weapon against Covid-19 that will allow the vaccination campaign to go faster".
