Andrea Sempio is "shocked, not so much for himself, because he says that he can deal with this thing anyway, he can defend himself because he didn't do anything, but what terrifies him the most and destroys him are the consequences on his parents, on the Poggi family, who are still living an ordeal, and on Marco Poggi". Marco, Chiara's brother, who "calls Andrea every day, is destroyed for his friend". This is how the lawyer Angela Taccia, who is assisting the 37-year-old investigated with the lawyer Massimo Lovati in the reopening of the investigation into the Garlasco case, describes Sempio's state of mind in these hours, after yesterday's DNA sampling.

A "paradoxical" situation, explained the lawyer Angela Taccia, because what "destroys Andrea the most at this moment" is that Chiara and Marco's parents "have to relive an ordeal". Sempio's involvement in the murder has already been archived twice, in 2017 and 2020, as the lawyer reiterated, because "no concrete evidence" has ever been found against him, and he is now considering asking for "psychological help" to face this "nightmare" again . He is surrounded, added the lawyer, "always the same friends, who are the ones from middle school, and Marco calls him every day".

Luciano Garofano, biologist and former commander of the Parma RIS, "has given his availability" to be appointed as a consultant for Sempio's defense, in particular on genetic aspects. The defense hopes that the comparison of the DNA collected yesterday from Sempio will be carried out "with a unique technical assessment or with an evidentiary incident", in which the defense consultant could also participate.

Chiara was his friend's older sister, Sempio continues to repeat. He never "asked anything" about her, he never made any "type of comment, nor question". And then "there were seven years of difference so we hung out with totally different people". Yesterday Sempio was subjected to a forced saliva swab by the investigating judge, since a week ago he had refused to do it voluntarily. Shortly before 10 he showed up at the headquarters of the Scientific Investigations Section of the Carabinieri in Milan for the sample. In front of the crowd of journalists and cameras he appeared tense: moustache, unkempt beard, pale and tired, he only answered "no" to the question of whether he was worried. He stayed in the offices on Via Monti for an hour and then managed to slip away, in a taxi.

The comparison of the DNA that will be extracted with that found under Chiara's nails should be done with the old data, of which there is only documentary evidence, at the center of the expert report ordered during the second appeal trial to Stasi . While on the one hand the Carabinieri of the Milanese Investigative Unit, to whom the investigations are delegated, will resume the investigation from the beginning and intend, among other things, to develop some elements considering them clues capable of opening a new trail, on the other hand it should be noted that the hypothesis that in recent days has hit the headlines and that will have to be investigated further, was 'rejected' by the investigating judge from Pavia Pasquale Villani in 2020. He archived, at the request of the former deputy prosecutor Mario Venditti, a file against unknown persons in which, however, he insisted on the reconstruction already rejected three years earlier.
