Ovation to "Che tempo che fa" for Patrick Zaki, Fabio Fazio's guest from his home in Egypt after 22 months spent behind bars: "I'm still trying to understand what happened to me but I feel like I'm in a dream", he says. the young Egyptian student of the University of Bologna released only five days ago .

"I understood what was happening when I was able to look at the road and get out of the police station and they took off my handcuffs - he says -. I was very confused, I asked my family what was happening, when I got into the car I couldn't to understand that they had released me. "

In these 22 months "I have been cut off from everything". He remembers well that terrible February 7, 2020, the day of his arrest: "The most terrible moment when they told me to wait at passport control". In these almost two years he has never stopped believing in his innocence but fundamental has been "the interest and love of all those who helped me, of my family, of Italy, of all my Bolognese".

Now he wants to return to Italy, to his Bologna, as soon as possible. Although he is still on trial: "The hearing has not yet been held and I am unable to leave the country". Although "for the moment I have no travel ban, and I would like to be in Bologna tomorrow too". Anyway, " very soon, i want to complete my studies and maybe live there. I want to do something for this city that has helped me ". And to return as soon as possible to the stadium for his Bologna, of which he is" a great fan: he lost to Torino but these things happen ", he comments with a smile.

Now he will finally be able to spend the Holidays with his family, trying not to think about the fact that his freedom is only temporary and taking a few days off from the preparation of the defensive brief that will be presented on February 1st.

His lawyer Hoda Nasrallah also asked for the documents of an old trial and the calling of a witness to prove that the article written by Patrick in 2019 to document the discrimination suffered by the Christian minority of Islamic Egypt - the one for which he risks others 5 years in prison - did not spread falsehoods.
