" You're not a terrorist, you had a moment of weakness ."
Nicola Turetta said this to his son Filippo, in cell for the murder of Giulia Cecchettin , in the conversation that the parents had with the boy last December 3 in the Verona prison.
The conversation, intercepted by investigators and ended up in the trial file, was published by the weekly "Giallo" and reported today by "Corriere della Sera" and "L'Arena di Verona".
It was the parents' first meeting with Turetta, after his capture in Germany which put an end to his escape that began after Giulia's murder and the abandonment of her body in a forest in Friuli.
Turetta tries to cheer up his son and encourage him: « You've done something, but you're not a mafioso, you're not someone who kills people. You had a moment of weakness, you are not a terrorist, you need to steel yourself. You're not the only one, there have been several others. But you have to graduate ."
In the conversation the young man would have asked his father if he had been fired because of his fault, Nicola Turetta instead tries to explain to his son all the benefits he may have in the future: «There are another 200 feminicides. Then you will have permission to go out, to go to work, parole. It wasn't you, you shouldn't blame yourself because you couldn't control yourself ."
He asks him about the behavior of the magistrates, and the young man replies: "Better than I expected." Turetta also expresses the fear of being left by the lawyer Giovanni Caruso: "I haven't told him everything, maybe I won't be able to tell him everything."
