Italy is turning more and more yellow and the risk of an armored New Year becomes real.

From Monday to Calabria, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Bolzano, Liguria, Marche, Veneto and Trento will be added in the yellow zone: they too exceed the alert threshold of the indicated parameters. From 20 December, therefore, the change of bracket will affect 12 million people.

But immediately after Christmas, from the 27th, Lombardy, Lazio and Emilia-Romagna could also end up in the same risk range. Some may even end up in orange by the end of the year.

The latest appeal to prudence comes from the Director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health, Gianni Rezza: "It is good, in view of the Christmas holidays, to try to avoid large aggregations - he says - to maintain prudent behavior and to carry out the booster dose of vaccine to increase our protection ".

The Commissioner for the Emergency, Francesco Figliuolo, launches an invitation to "continue to be responsible" because "Christmas is a time of shopping and gatherings".

THE PEAK - In the last few hours there is a new peak in Covid cases : it was over a year, since the end of November 2020, that there have been no more than 28 thousand cases per day. On November 26, 2020, there were 29 thousand cases. It must be said that the number of victims was much higher, 822, today there were 120.

With similar figures (but without the fundamental weapon of the vaccine) last year some rules were established by decree to be respected during the Christmas holidays and with the limit of two non-cohabitating adults to be able to invite home. Even if there is only a week left for the start of the Holidays, it cannot be ruled out that a series of reflections and recommendations may arrive in the coming days.

The sharp rise in the curve is confirmed by the data from the latest monitoring, which records an increase in the incidence with 241 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants against 176 in the previous week. The employment rate in intensive care has also risen, now at 9.6% against 8.5% in the previous seven days, while the employment rate in medical areas nationwide rises to 12.1% against 10.6% (the alert threshold for each single region is set at 10% for the intensive and 15% for the wards).
