Clashes erupted in Turin between protesters and law enforcement during the march following the Askatasuna eviction.
A group of hooded protesters at the head of the demonstration attempted to break through the police cordon by throwing bottles and other objects. Police responded with water cannons and tear gas. There were batons being used on one side and batons being used by protesters. The march, which started from Palazzo Nuovo, numbered over two thousand. Many were present.
Young people and families, residents of the Vanchiglia neighborhood, and even children with a banner bearing their handprints. Delegations arrived from other cities, such as Milan, Genoa, and the Northeast.
“Askatasuna means freedom, no one will stop us” and “Woe to anyone who touches us” were some of the slogans chanted by the protesters.
