Alberto Dainese, of the DSM, has won the 17th stage of the Giro d'Italia, 197 km from Pergine Valsugana to Caorle. The Italian beat Jonathan Milan and Michael Matthews at the finish line.

Geraint Thomas of Ineos Grenadiers retains the pink jersey. The Welshman keeps the advantage of 18'' over the Portuguese Joao Almeida of Uae Team Emirates and 29'' over the Slovenian Primoz Roglic of Jumbo-Visma.

The fifth was more detached: the Italian Damiano Caruso of Bahrain-Victorious at 2'50''.
