Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates) won the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia , the Sabbio Chiese-Monte Bondone, 203 kilometres.
The Portuguese beat Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) in a two-man sprint, who returns to wearing the pink jersey , snatching it from Bruno Armirail, delayed on the last climb.
Third at the finish line, but 25'' behind Almeida, was the Slovenian Primoz Roglic .
