Roberto Gagliardini, the Rossoblu's next (but almost certainly not last) summer signing, got his first taste of Cagliari. The midfielder, released after his time at Verona, landed at Elmas Airport from Fiumicino at 4:20 PM, after undergoing a medical in Rome this morning .
"I'm overjoyed, over the moon: I think it's the right choice for me," Gagliardini said at the airport. "I've already spoken with Pisacane, and now I'll get to know the team in the next few days."
Gagliardini, born in 1994, will join Fabio Pisacane's squad, who yesterday described him as a mentor for the younger players. From January 2017 to June 2023, he played for Inter, winning a championship in 2021, then spent two years at Monza before joining Verona. He had been without a club since July, then reached an agreement with the Rossoblu. Cagliari is also closing in on Japanese right-back Yukinari Sugawara from Southampton and is expected to sign a striker by the end of the transfer window (tomorrow at 8:00 PM).
