Gianluca Gaetano is a new Atalanta player. Cagliari announced the permanent transfer of the Napoli midfielder, who joins the Bergamo club for €14 million including bonuses (€12 million fixed salary plus €2 million in easily achievable bonuses). The deal was finalized in recent days ; he left Sardinia yesterday – thus skipping the pre-campaign in Asseminello – to undergo a medical this morning.

Born in 2000, the 20-year-old arrived in Sardinia in February 2024 from Napoli, initially on loan and subsequently with an option to buy, which was exercised. In total, he has made 76 appearances and scored nine goals , three in the last year, including the crucial one against Roma on December 7 in the 1-0 win. And under Fabio Pisacane, he has reinvented himself from attacking midfielder to playmaker.

In announcing the transfer, Cagliari thanked Gaetano "for his dedication to the Rossoblu cause and wishes him all the best in his future career." No compensation is currently planned.
