The reconnaissance of the remains of Fra 'Nazareno da Pula (real name Giovanni Zucca, Capuchin friar) ended this morning in Pula. Present were the Archbishop of Cagliari Giuseppe Baturi, the Commission appointed by him and the guardian of the convent, Father Roberto Sardu. Now the body will always be buried at the shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Is Molas, in a new tomb which will be completed in early December.

Fra 'Nazareno was born in Pula on January 21, 1911 and for a long time was in Africa, engaged in war operations. He was also held prisoner in an English concentration camp during that time. Back in Sardinia, he joined the Capuchin friars minor under the spiritual guidance of San Pio da Pietrelcina. Cook, beggar, porter, he assisted the poor and the sick and over the years his reputation for holiness has grown more and more also for prodigious events and miraculous healings, until his death on February 29, 1992.

The process for his beatification is underway, the role of Vice Postulator has been assigned to Father Roberto Sardu, linked to the friar by a deep friendship.
