Eni has announced the extension of its fuel price reduction to the agricultural and fishing sectors. Current Enilive customers can now purchase diesel and gasoline for agricultural and fishing use at a 20% discount, net of VAT .
The discount will be applied from today until October 31st and may be extended until the end of the year, Eni says, based on market trends and product availability.
The decision, according to a statement from the company, "is part of the Eni for Italy initiative: it follows the price cap on diesel and petrol prices applied at participating Enilive stations since 28 September and the fixed-price discount on electricity and gas rates recently announced by Plenitude." Eni, the statement continues, "intends to make a new contribution of solidarity to the country and to two strategic sectors, namely agriculture and fishing."
In recent days, protests have erupted throughout Italy, including Sardinia, from farmers and fishermen who were excluded from the price cap and discounts announced by four companies: Eni, then IP, Q8 and, most recently yesterday, Tamoil .
The minister
"I want to thank Eni for fully understanding the need to support our primary production sector, as much as possible, with a fuel access tariff that allows us to continue carrying out our valuable role as guardians of the environment and Italian food security," emphasized Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida , hoping "that other oil companies operating in Italy will emulate Eni's virtuous behavior, as has happened in recent days."
Prices on the Island
Meanwhile, the average price of fuel in Sardinia continues to decline, due to the price cap and discounts that are being extended to more and more stations day by day. The average price of diesel fuel on the island today stands at €2.274 per liter, about 3 cents less than yesterday's €2.308; that of gasoline is €2.070, also about 3 cents less than yesterday's €2.098 . Prices are still very high: Sardinia has the fourth most expensive diesel fuel in Italy, behind the provinces of Bolzano and Trento and Molise.
