Continuity, the new year starts badly: leaving the island is a nightmare

The new year doesn't clear the clouds for Airline Continuity. Neither the current one, nor the one that will come into force this spring with the launch of the new tender. Discounted tickets reserved for Sardinians are almost impossible to find, and leaving the island at the end of these long holidays seems to be a feat reserved for a lucky few. Yet another chaos during the hottest periods of the year thus lays very weak foundations for the construction of a service that will connect Sardinia to the rest of Italy for the next three years.
Inconveniences
Those who tried to book flights to Milan Linate or Rome Fiumicino from Olbia or Cagliari yesterday learned firsthand that leaving Sardinia is anything but easy. Since this morning, afternoon and evening flights from Gallura to the capital or the Lombardy metropolis were sold out. The same inconveniences arose from the Sardinian capital to Fiumicino: no seats were available for departures after 3:00 PM yesterday.
Things went even worse for those who wanted, or will want, to travel from Cagliari to Milan Linate . The Aeroitalia website flashed sold-out status for all flights scheduled for yesterday afternoon, tomorrow, and the day after. This ticket shortage will only worsen in the coming hours, unless supported by the addition of new flights.
"It's a situation that repeats itself every year," comments Claudia Camedda, general secretary of Fit Cisl . "The situation is returning to normal with the addition of new flights, which airlines must be ready and scheduled for, and which the region must demand."
