"Territorial continuity is a constitutional right to protect the equality of citizens and in no way can a territory be penalized compared to another within the countries of the European Union", says Pietro Bartolo, Demos MEP elected in the constituency Sicily-Sardinia on the Democratic Party list .

«There is all our commitment in Brussels, and my personal one, to support the Sardinia dispute advanced by many Sardinian mayors and forcefully by the Alghero councilor of Demos Mario Bruno, together with all the Sardinian political forces. An issue that can only be resolved by good politics, not through bureaucratic technicalities, but through interventions that ensure the right to mobility, which is essential for everyone but especially for those who live on an island», says the MEP originally from Lampedusa.

«For my part - continues Bartolo - I take an active part in getting and involving colleagues from the Transport Commission of the European Parliament and the European Commission itself so that the Alghero case is resolved immediately, both in the contingent phase in which all the doubts must be resolved of DG Transport, and above all in the preparation phase of the new model of territorial continuity which will have to be the reference for all European islands, as supported by the resolution of the European Parliament of June 2022 at the request of the Union Commission".
