It certainly wasn't an ideal first half for Cagliari in the Coppa Italia against Verona: Hellas took a 0-1 lead at half-time at the Domus.
Pisacane (suspended, with Murelli on the bench) made seven changes compared to Inter . The first chance fell to Verona, with Edmundsson's shot coming from a corner at the near post in the fourth minute, but Radunović, one of the substitutes (and a former substitute of the evening), saved it. A right-footed shot from Liteta in the 11th minute, deflected for a corner, was Cagliari's first chance. The Serbian goalkeeper, shortly after the quarter-hour mark, also denied Harroui, while in the 20th minute, Kastanos' left-footed shot narrowly missed the post.
Hellas's lead was a direct result of the visitors' strong approach: in the 23rd minute, Harroui turned in a Livramento cross into the center of the box, triggered by a misplaced pass from Liteta, and Radunović tapped in but couldn't prevent the goal . Cagliari attempted a response after half an hour, but shots from Ciervo and then Felici were blocked by the Verona defense. A powerful left-footed shot from outside the box by new captain Juan Rodríguez was instead saved for a corner by Perilli a minute later.
The ball was deflected from the corner, but Fazzini fired over on the second attempt. The Rossoblu came close in the 39th minute, with a long-range shot from another former player, Lella, that Radunović saved . Fazzini won a free kick from the edge of the box in the 44th minute, taking it himself but hitting the wall. After two minutes of added time, the half-time break was called, with protests following a cross from Felici, which Edmundsson blocked first with his body and then with his arm (which was deemed legal).
