Cagliari and Sardinia bid farewell to Claudio Ranieri. With the match against Fiorentina the curtain falls on the 2023-24 season of the rossoblù, which closed triumphantly with salvation achieved a day early, by virtue of the success on the Sassuolo pitch last weekend.
These are the official training choices of the two coaches, Claudio Ranieri and Vincenzo Italiano:
Cagliari (4-4-1-1): Scuffet; Zappa, Mina, Obert, Augello; Nandez, Deiola, Prati, Luvumbo; Viola; Lapadula.
Fiorentina (4-2-3-1): Terracciano; Dodo, Milenkovic, Ranieri, Biraghi; Bonaventura, Mandragora; Ikoné, Barak, Castrovilli; Belotti.
FIRST HALF – A goal from Bonaventura forces Cagliari to chase, with Fiorentina ahead 1-0 at half-time.
It begins with the tears of Ranieri, acclaimed by the entire stadium for his last bench. Cagliari with Viola supporting Lapadula and Luvumbo, while behind Obert replaces the suspended Dossena alongside Mina. Fiorentina with their sights set on the Conference final, but it is the guests who shake up the match, with a header from Belotti (20') defused by Scuffet.
The rossoblù response is a barrage in three minutes: first a header from Deiola (27') just over, then a sure shot from Luvumbo (28') enhances Terracciano and, finally, another header from Deiola and the purple goalkeeper takes the ball out of the goal. Cagliari persists and in the 33rd minute Luvumbo, all alone, is hypnotized by Terracciano. A minute later, another right-footed shot from Deiola and the ball goes just over. But in the 39th minute, surprisingly, Fiorentina put their noses forward, with Bonaventura hitting the ball with his left foot under the top corner. Scuffet is very good at avoiding an encore on Castrovilli. In full injury time Lapadula's equalizer was canceled out for offside and the first half ended with Fiorentina ahead 1-0.
