The first day of the 2024-2025 season should have given Cagliari and its fans the official appointment of Davide Nicola as successor to King Claudio Ranieri. A wait, once again, in vain. Next Monday, when the gates of the Crai Sport Center reopen for the start of the pre-season, Nicola and his staff will be there waiting for the rossoblù, that's a certainty. But that long-awaited announcement didn't arrive yesterday either and won't arrive before Friday.

The agreement made between the two clubs, with Nicola renouncing the survival bonus and which will be paid to him by Cagliari, as reimbursement to the Tuscan club, in an operation that saw the exit of Sebastiano Luperto, whose arrival in Sardinia is now unrelated to the coach question. But a bureaucratic hitch blocked everything.
