For once, one of the traditional opponents has been an "ally" of Sassari: with the success against Naples for 89-75 Brindisi gains access to the Italian Cup and also drags the team coached by Piero Bucchi into the Final 8. Banco di Sardegna is mathematically eighth, regardless of the result of tomorrow's recovery between Brescia and Pesaro. It is thanks to the detached ranking that rewards the victories over Reggio Emilia, Venice and also over Pesaro and Treviso.

An unthinkable result only ten days ago, when the biancoblù had only two points clear of the penultimate place.

From eighth, Dinamo will face Milan, in a challenge that has been repeated often in the Italian Cup. The first in the 2014 tournament, right in the quarterfinals, when the team of the two Diener, Travis and Drake, and of the two Greens, Marques and Caleb, won 82-80 and surprisingly beat Reggio Emilia in the semifinal and Siena in the final, conquering the first absolute trophy. The victory in the 2015 Italian Cup is also the result of a success over Milan: 101-94 in the final.

In 2017, however, it was Milan who won the final and raised the Italian Cup: 84-74 the score.
