Air Italy, the Region asks for a new meeting with the government: "deafening silence from those who have to intervene"

"It is a deafening and unacceptable silence that fell by the government, which in front of one of the most important and serious disputes in the country does not lift a finger, does not speak for the requests coming from the two regions involved, Sardinia and Lombardy, does not accept the continuous requests for meetings, does not respond to proposals nor does it provide tools capable of guaranteeing a future for over a thousand workers that the ownership of Air Italy is trying to erase from the history of air transport ".
The harsh attack on the executive led by Prime Minister Mario Draghi comes from the Regional Labor Councilor, Alessandra Zedda, in the aftermath of the workers' demonstration in front of the Ministry of Economic Development in Rome.
Earlier this year, the airline's employees received letters of dismissal from the company, which refused to request an extension of the layoffs.
"It is unfair that the Region is left alone in this battle for justice and that is why we return to ask for the continuation of the confrontation between the parties with the aim of defining a framework of actions and measures in support of the 1322 workers of Air Italy, to which the Region of Sardinia continues to lend a hand with all the tools available, not least the possibility of using the European Globalization Adjustment Fund, which provides support to those who are unemployed or have been expelled from the labor market by supporting reintegration on basis of a two-year program ".
In recent weeks, the department had sent to the competent ministers the summary of the meeting of 10 January with the workers' representatives.
The Regions of Sardinia and Lombardy had taken an active part in asking for the creation of a reference basin to bring together the company's workers, as well as all those belonging to other crisis situations in air transport.
"We ask for the immediate reconvocation of the table, which at the moment is still open, so that the government can support us and support us with adequate measures, reaching out to the families involved and guaranteeing a future for the workers. We have worked for this tirelessly, with determination. and firmness and we intend to continue with the same commitment demonstrated up to now ", concluded the representative of the Giunta Solinas.
