The dispute to save Air Italy's 1,320 workers from collective redundancy is a race against time, but today's meeting between the liquidators of the company, the Ministry of Labor , the Lombardy and Sardinia Regions and the trade unions marks a point in their favor.

The liquidators Enrico Laghi and Franco Lagro, even if they reiterated that the company does not intend to extend the redundancy fund, have undertaken not to take any unilateral initiative until December 9, the day after the expiry of the 75 days from the start. of the collective dismissal procedure, as well as the day of the next confrontation.

By that date, Parliament is expected to approve the amendments contained in the Agenda within the maneuver, under discussion in these days, to align the position of Air Italy workers with those of Alitalia , whose cigs will expire on 31 December 2022.

The general secretary of Filt Cgil Sardegna hopes this, Arnaldo Boeddu who criticized the absence of the Ministry of Economic Development, considered "a fundamental ally in this game", and explained that "every road must be traveled and every solution sought to avoid dismissal of 1320 workers "and that" at the moment the only way out is layoffs until 31 December 2022 ".

For the trade unionist "the firmness of the liquidators of Air Italy leaves very few glimmers", but the fate of the Agenda and the Budget Law is decisive. "If it passes, the company will no longer have any reason not to subscribe to another year of layoffs," he concluded.

"The umpteenth black smoke", commented the Uiltrasporti territorial secretary of Northern Sardinia Elisabetta Manca, "it is absolutely necessary for Air Italy to grant an extension of the mobility procedure to 31 December, coinciding with the expiry of the current social safety net.

"This time would allow us to evaluate all the hypotheses being examined by Parliament, first of all the amendment of article 10 of the budget law, which will start the discussion in these days. It is necessary for the company to assume its responsibilities and accept the requests received in a unified manner from the Ministry of Labor, Regions and trade unions. We will never accept that 1320 workers remain without work and without support because of the infamous company choices ", he added.
