The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, received the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, this morning at the Quirinale Palace . The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, was present at the meeting. The President of the Republic reiterated Italy's "full and unaltered support" for Kiev .
"I had a very positive meeting with Mattarella, I told him that it is time for him to come to Ukraine, the last time an Italian president was in Ukraine was 25 years ago . So it is especially appropriate now that we are talking about the reconstruction conference", said the Ukrainian president, who also met with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni last night.
The reference is to the conference for the reconstruction of Ukraine, scheduled in Rome on 10 and 11 July .
"I am very pleased that your position has always been one of strong support for Ukraine , support for our people and our children. Thank you very much. I had a meeting yesterday with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. We are grateful for the support of the Italian government and for these support packages for Ukraine, both in terms of support for our army, our resilience, and in terms of humanitarian support for our people. I am very pleased that this year we will have such an important event on the reconstruction of Ukraine, this is about the future. In any case, it is about life. I am very pleased that this conference is being held in Italy," Zelensky told the Head of State.
