Marco Penza, 27 years old from Limbiate (Monza and Brianza), who had left for less than a month to gain experience as a volunteer in a field for the protection of turtles, died overwhelmed by a wave in Costa Rica.

He was swimming with another volunteer, a 19-year-old US national, when the current dragged them. She was saved by her colleagues, he disappeared swallowed by the sea.

Now the father and brother have left for Central America while friends have organized a fundraiser for the expenses of research and to bring the body to Italy.

"He loved traveling and was a very active person. He loved climbing and spending time outdoors, surrounded by nature," they explained.

On his Instagram page, you can see Marco's passion for travel, nature, and photography.

Among the latest shots, precisely those of waterfalls and landscapes of Costa Rica, an image with friends bathing at the foot of a waterfall accompanied by a quote "because standing still you oppose the flow of life. You become a stone, when instead you should be a river ".
