New sanctions against Russia for Japan's war in Ukraine. This was announced by the government which has blacklisted several Moscow military officials and has reduced exports to 80 Russian companies.

In particular, commanders and military officials of the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk and the occupied areas of the Ukrainian regions of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson end up in Tokyo's sights.

The list disclosed by the Japanese Foreign Ministry includes, among others, the colonel general commander of the airborne troops Mikhail Teplinsky and that of the Russian strategic missile troops Sergey Karakayev.

Among the companies affected by the sanctions are the Russian mobile phone operator MegaFon, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, the Russian Foundation for Advanced Research Projects in the Defense Industry, the design bureau Npo Lavochkin, the manufacturer of Kamaz trucks, the Skolkovo Foundation and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.

Meanwhile, at least four explosions were heard overnight in the southeastern Ukrainian oblast of Dnepropetrovsk and particularly in the regional capital Dnipro, according to local media quoting Ukrainian officials. The anti-aircraft alarm was activated in these hours in the region and in 10 other Ukrainian oblasts, including that of Kiev.
