Vatican: Cardinal Angelo Sodano has died

Cardinal Angelo Sodano died at the age of 94 in Rome.

Secretary of State emeritus and dean emeritus of the College of Cardinals , he was born in Isola d'Asti on November 23, 1927, in recent times his health conditions had worsened after a recent infection from Covid-19 which was added to other pathologies of which he suffered.

He was hospitalized at the Roman Columbus clinic.

On September 15, 2006 he had resigned from the office of Secretary of State which had been accepted by Pope Benedict XVI, on December 21, 2019 he left the role of dean with the consent of Pope Francis.
