Usa, death row inmates ask for shooting: but the judge orders lethal injection

Sentenced to death, they asked to be shot to die "quickly and painlessly".

But the judge rejected the request, requiring both sentences to be carried out with the usual lethal injection.

This is the story in the US that saw two inmates held on death row in an Oklahoma prison as protagonists.

Donald Grant, found guilty of the murders of two women in 2001, and Gilbert Postelle, responsible for other heinous crimes, the names of the two inmates.

After the court's no to the instance, the first has already been executed, while Postelle's execution was set for mid-February.

"Justice is now being done for Brenda McElyea, Felecia Suzette Smith and the people of Oklahoma," the state attorney general said in a post-initiation statement that ended Grant's life.

These are the first death sentences carried out in the United States in 2022.
