Two years ago the war began in Ukraine. And Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is in Kiev to chair the G7 videoconference meeting , in which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also intervenes.

Meloni arrived in the capital aboard the same train on which the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Alexander De Croo, Prime Minister of Belgium who is the rotating President of the EU Council, and the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau traveled.

«Forward alongside Ukraine for the strength of law and for a just peace», declares the prime minister in an interview with Il Giornale: « Being at Kiev's side means preventing the international system based on rules from definitively falling apart » .

Arriving in Kiev Von der Leyen praised Ukraine's "extraordinary resistance" . «More than ever – he added – we are firmly at Ukraine's side. Financially, economically, militarily, morally. Until the country is finally free."

Yesterday, however, Zelensky announced the start of a new counteroffensive: «The defense of Ukraine is task number 1. We will continue with the successes in the Black Sea, I won't go into details but we are preparing some surprises for Russia. We will prepare a new counteroffensive, new operations. We will not stand still ,” he said in an interview with Fox News.
