Trump's tariffs, the European Union announces its appeal to the WTO

The European Union will file a formal complaint with the World Trade Organization against the United States, challenging the tariffs announced by Donald Trump.
The European Commission announced this, reporting its intention to present a request for consultations "soon".
"The EU firmly believes that these duties represent a clear violation of fundamental WTO rules," the Commission said in a statement.
"The aim is to reaffirm that internationally agreed rules are important and cannot be unilaterally ignored by any WTO member, including the US."
