Scary accident at Tokyo's Haneda airport.

A Japan Airlines Airbus 350 caught fire on the runway after colliding with a Japanese Coast Guard aircraft.

The collision apparently occurred following a failure in the undercarriage of the Airbus, which took off from Sapporo and was landing in the capital.

Emergency procedures were immediately activated, with the evacuation of approximately 370 passengers on board and the crew, who left the aircraft with the slides.

The authorities have confirmed 5 victims: they are the occupants of the Coast Guard aircraft involved in the collision with the Airbus, which was engaged in rescue operations following the devastating earthquake that hit Japan . The commander instead fled.

The Ministry of Transport has launched an investigation into the incident.
