The UN General Assembly approved a resolution with 141 votes in favor (including the Italian one), 7 against and 32 abstentions which stresses «the need to achieve, as soon as possible, a complete, just and lasting peace in line with the Charter of the United Nations".

The text "reaffirms the commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders" and calls for "the cessation of hostilities and the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Russian military forces ».

In addition to Russia, Syria, Belarus, Eritrea, North Korea, Nicaragua and, for the first time, Mali voted no.

Among the 32 abstentions are the "big" China and India, but also - among others - Cuba, Pakistan, Angola, Ethiopia, Algeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

«Italy voted in favor of the resolution for peace in Ukraine which was adopted by the United Nations with 141 votes. A text that defends Ukraine but is above all in favor of peace. A great victory in the name of freedom», commented Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
