The Holy See closes the Trevignano case.
The Vatican Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith today recognized the "legal validity" of the decree with which the bishop of Civita Castellana, Msgr. Marco Salvi had declared the non-supernatural nature of the alleged apparitions of the Madonna in Trevignano, near Rome.
The bishop had warned «the faithful to refrain from organizing and/or participating in private and/or public meetings (whether for prayer and/or catechesis) which take the supernatural truth of the events of Trevignano as certain and indubitable».
Meanwhile, two weeks ago an investigation was opened against Gisella Cardia, the "seer" from Trevignano, and her husband Gianni on the suspicion of fraud.
The woman had been the protagonist of pilgrimage events for alleged apparitions of the Madonna. Every 3rd of the month proclaimed the apparition of the Virgin Mary with faithful flocking from all over the world and the hotels in the area were fully booked.
