Israel kicks off fourth doses in vaccination campaign to stem the coronavirus pandemic.

The first to receive the fourth administration was a woman: Orna Rahminov, nurse at the Shbea hospital in Tel Aviv, who today started a study on the effectiveness of the second booster which will be injected to about 150 members of the hospital's medical staff. .

The Jewish state, the first country to opt for the fourth dose, has in any case decided not to extend, for the moment, the additional administration to the entire population (only a "sample" of six thousand people is expected), pending new findings.

"Honored to have been chosen," said Rahminov, in a post posted on the hospital's Facebook site. Adding: "I have faith in vaccines."

Meanwhile, the Israeli health ministry has also given emergency clearance for the use of Pfizer's oral drug Paxlovid against Covid. Israel has ordered thousands of doses with the aim of fighting the Omicron variant: doses that are expected to arrive in the country next Wednesday.
