A Michigan jury has convicted the mother of a teenager who fatally shot four classmates at a school near Detroit of manslaughter .

The judge supported the prosecutors' argument that the woman and her husband were also responsible for giving her son a gun and ignoring the signs of his violence .

According to the American media, the trial against 45-year-old Jennifer Crumbley is the first trial in the US in which a parent has been accused of manslaughter resulting from a school shooting by his child. Her husband, James Crumbley, faces the same charge and will go on trial in March.

His son Ethan, 15, killed 4 students (two 17-year-olds, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old) with a semi-automatic weapon in 2021 and injured 7 at Oxford High School. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison without parole .
