Serac collapse on Mont Blanc, one dead and 4 injured

The first toll from the collapse of a serac which occurred this morning on the French side of the Mont Blanc massif is one victim and four injured, one of whom is very serious.

This was reported by the prefecture of Haute-Savoie. 15 climbers were involved in the collapse.

The accident occurred in the Mont Blanc du Tacul sector, at 4,100 meters above sea level. Rescue operations continue. Seven other people escaped unharmed.
