Russian oil giant Lukoil has announced the death of its vice president Vitaly Robertus.

In a statement the company claims that Robertus died "suddenly" at the age of 54. Sky News reports it.

Robertus had been at Lukoil for more than 30 years and is the latest in a series of senior Russian oil and gas executives to die in sudden circumstances. In October 2023 Lukoil said that Prime Minister Vladimir Nekrasov had died of heart failure at the age of 66.

A former senior Lukoil executive, Alexander Subbotin, was found dead in May 2022 while in September of the same year state media reported that President Ravil Maganov had died after falling from a hospital window in Moscow.
