Best wishes, but no presents for Ukraine, where Russian bombs didn't stop even on Christmas night.
Vladimir Putin sent a telegram of good wishes to Trump , spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, also stressing that peace was still far away .
Moscow denies Bloomberg's reports that the Kremlin has requested changes to the US plan to end the war in Ukraine. "This is fake news," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova denied on Telegram.
Zelensky is willing to withdraw his army from the part of Donbass he still controls, but only if Russia does so as well, freeing up a portion of territory for the creation of a demilitarized zone. Moscow refuses to accept this condition, as it wants the complete surrender of Donbass and has always ruled out even a partial withdrawal from the territories it has occupied.
The Kremlin also condemned Volodymyr Zelensky's Christmas greetings, which called for Putin's death: "These are uncivilized and hateful remarks, and he is unfit to achieve peace. And one naturally wonders whether he is capable of making responsible decisions toward a political-diplomatic solution," Dmitry Peskov said.
A speech "in bad taste, full of anger, he seemed like an unbalanced person."
