Peru's president Pedro Castillo and his wife Lilia Paredes allegedly copied the thesis . A real case that, amid a thousand controversies, holds court in the South American country, where the prosecutor of the district of Cajamarca has launched an investigation precisely to shed light on the alleged plagiarism of the thesis, concerning a master in educational psychology at the Cesar university Vallejo .
The fuss was raised by the denunciation of a television program, entitled "Panorama" , according to which, after having submitted the thesis of Castillo and Paredes to the Turnitin software, the system established that 54% of the text featured reproductions taken by other authors .
The crimes for which Castillo and Paredes risk having to answer are aggravated plagiarism, generic falsehood and undue gain to the detriment of the state.
The Peruvian government, through the voice of the Peruvian Prime Minister Aníbal Torres, has played down the story, accusing the university of not carrying out checks on the appointment of thesis supervisors.
For his part, Castillo has denied the accusations , pointing the finger at the press which allegedly implemented a "destabilizing" plan against him.
