"I'm fine and I'm safe." With these words, the Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai - who disappeared after denouncing sexual abuse by the former deputy prime minister of Beijing, Zang Ghaoli - reassured about his condition, during a video call with the leaders of the IOC.
The news was released in a note issued by the International Olympic Committee itself.
Peng Shuai spoke with President Thomas Bach, with the aim of allaying concern for his fate.
But the story - on which the sports world and the international community ask for "clarity" - still presents many obscure points.
In recent days, in addition to videos and images , an e-mail had also been disseminated, where the tennis player reiterated that she was fine and asked for her privacy to be respected. A document of which many have questioned its authenticity, however.
