There are over one million new cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in a single day registered in the US. A figure that represents double compared to four days ago and quadruple in just over a week.

The data is provided by Johns Hopkins University, according to reports from the Bloomberg agency which explains how the numbers could even be underestimated, without taking into account the many Americans who rely on DIY anti-Covid tests for use at home.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been over 56 million infections in the United States and nearly 830 thousand victims.
