A massacre of migrants, perhaps one of the worst in American history: over 50 lifeless people (including 4 children) were found   inside an abandoned truck in San Antonio, Texas. Only sixteen survivors of a clandestine trip to the US that ended in tragedy.

A massacre resulting from desperation and the scorching heat that is hitting the state, where temperatures have been over 39 degrees for days.

The shocking discovery was made by agents of the Homeland Security Investigation, an agency specializing in cases of human trafficking.

Investigations are ongoing and the authorities are currently holding three people linked to the massacre in custody . It is not clear whether among these there is the driver of the truck, who fled shortly before the vehicle was discovered.

Texas Governor, Republican Greg Abbott, attacks Joe Biden for the massacre. "These deaths are his. They are the result of his deadly policy of open borders and show the consequences of his refusal to implement the law."

The republican governor allied to Donald Trump, whose wall he wants to complete with Mexico, has long denounced the migrant emergency in the state: in the last month alone 44,000 people have crossed the border between Del Rio and Eagle Pass , the border towns closer to San Antonio, an important transit center for millions of migrants for years.

Beto O'Rourke, the Democratic candidate for governor of Texas, speaks of "devastating massacre". It calls for broad action to dismantle human trafficking networks and replace them with wider avenues for legal immigration .

The San Antonio massacre is one of the worst in American history . In 2003 nineteen migrants were found dead in a truck in Texas: the driver of the vehicle had asked for 7,500 dollars per person for the passage and had never turned on the air conditioning so that inside the truck the temperatures had exceeded 70 degrees .
