Controversial curtain in Auckland during the press conference on the sidelines of the meeting between the premier of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern and her Finnish counterpart Sanna Marin , who is visiting the oceanic state.

It was triggered by the premise made by a journalist before a question: "You met because you are similar in age and have many things in common...". Words immediately interrupted by the two leaders.

"I would like to know if anyone has ever asked former US president Barack Obama and former New Zealand premier John Key if they met because they are the same age," Ardern asked, interrupting the reporter.

"The fact that two female prime ministers meet is not simply due to their gender - continued the New Zealand prime minister - even if of course we have a higher percentage of men in politics, it is reality. Our meeting today is an opportunity to talk about the economic opportunities between our two countries. It is our job to promote them, regardless of our gender ».

Sanna Marin's reaction was also immediate: " We met because we are two prime ministers ", underlined succinctly the Finnish premier, who is in New Zealand for her first official tour and is also the first leader from Helsinki to visit the Village.
