Following the death of an Indonesian peacekeeper , killed by a bullet that struck a United Nations post, the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, which also includes the Sassari Brigade, was involved in a new "incident" in which several injuries were reported . Kandice Ardiel , spokesperson for the UN-backed international mission, confirmed this to AFP, without however providing details on the nature of the incident.

"An incident involving UN peacekeepers occurred near Bani Hayyan, and we have injuries," Ardiel said. The affected area is along the Lebanese-Israeli border, about 45 kilometers northeast of Shama, the base hosting the Italian contingent, where the Dimonios are stationed , in UNIFIL's Western Sector. The killing of the Indonesian soldier occurred in the Marjayoun area, in the Spanish-led Eastern Sector.

Following the repeated incidents targeting the mission's military, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres also intervened, with words of "condemnation" and an invitation to all parties "to respect their obligations under international law and to guarantee the safety of UNIFIL personnel and property at all times".
