"Harassed by a group of young people in the Spanish nightlife but when the police arrived we were beaten ", so much so that we had to resort to hospital treatment with a "pair of cracked ribs, nosebleeds, and chest pains".

This was reported by Ambra Morelli , 22-year-old Florentine, water polo player of the Rari Nantes Florentia, who on 9 August was on vacation in Valencia , Spain, along with seven other friends, all from Florence.

On their last day of vacation they decided to go to the disco, but when they left the club what was supposed to be a carefree evening turned into a night of great fear. First the bad encounter with a group of drunk boys, then the arrival in the police force that surrounded the group of girls.

THE STORY

“At the exit, my friend Matilde and I were talking, when a shoe came on us - explains Ambra, who wanted to make the bad adventure known on social media -. We thought they wanted to strike up a button but when we gave it back to them one of them, who had been drinking, kicked me, then started insulting us in Spanish and spitting on us ”.

The police arrive on the spot: “We thought: now everything is fine. It didn't happen that way, and that's the thing that hurts me the most. We tried to explain to the agents what had happened, also in Spanish: we were with our hands up. They didn't care about anything ”.

Retracing the events of that evening, the girl explains that “there were at least five patrols, 10 officers, they surrounded us like criminals , but we were the victims. They pushed us into the sand, my face was on the ground and I couldn't breathe well. At one point a truncheon came out ”.

The situation is getting worse and worse: “After a while they lifted us up strongly - continues Ambra -. My friend Matilde and I took each other by the hand but they divided us violently. There Niccolò Ciatti came to mind, I thought about what he must have felt even if the situation was different. But they are always blows and a lot of indifference on the part of those who see but do not act ”.

The girls went to the hospital wearing the signs of violence: “I had physical damage - explains Ambra -. A couple of cracked ribs, nosebleed, chest pain - I'm still taking painkillers. We were all paralyzed with fear, I saw some of my friends in panic, they didn't move ”.

“I keep hearing my voice screaming in despair - says my friend Matilde instead. We were attacked, we are not the culprits, we told the agents . And then a look, that of the female officer who was part of the police squad. I stared at her asking for help, understanding. And instead we only received blows in return ”.
