Hundreds of tractors in Brussels: manure and hay in front of the EU buildings. The police activate the water cannons

High tension in Brussels, where the protest came from the farmers of Fugea, the Federation of Young Farmers (FJA), the Walloon Federation of Agriculture (Fwa), the Support Network for Peasant Agriculture (RéSAP) and the European Coordination.

In the neighborhood where the EU buildings are located, around 250 tractors gathered and the demonstrators, protesting against the Union's agricultural policies, threw firecrackers and dumped manure and hay, also burning some tyres.

The heart of the protest, organized on the occasion of the meeting of the Agriculture Ministers of the Member States, is rue de la Loi, where the buildings of the Commission and the European Council are located.

The police in riot gear responded to the protests by activating water cannons to force the demonstrators back.
